Internship overview

A structured, credit-
bearing program.

Our Architecture and the Built Environment Internship has been designed for students ready to grow as built environment professionals in a competitive global design sector, while staying on track for academic credit and graduation.
Students are placed in local architecture studios or related practices, contributing around 25 hours per week to live projects and real-world design processes. Alongside this, a 5-hour weekly classroom setting provides structured academic support, reflection, design critique and integration.
This blended model strengthens portfolios, sharpens professional and technical skills, and develops a global perspective on architecture and the built environment.
Our placement network includes specialist firms and architecture and civil engineering offices working across a diverse range of construction and design projects.

We offer two internship formats:

Student support & wellbeing

Proactive support, structured by design.

All programs include a comprehensive support model with dedicated local staff in each location. Students benefit from regular one-to-one check-ins, an on-the-ground support team and 24/7 emergency assistance. This ensures they are fully supported to adapt, engage, and thrive both academically and personally.

Student safety and wellbeing are central to the RiSE program design. Our approach is proactive and structured, supporting students from pre-departure preparation and destination planning through to in-country support, incident response, and post-program review.

Drawing on experience delivering international programs, including work with younger participants, we combine strong safeguarding, local expertise, and 24/7 escalation procedures to ensure students can participate safely and confidently. Our team is trained in health, safety, safeguarding, and crisis response, underpinned by a robust risk management framework, a strong track record, and long-standing partnerships with academic institutions.

Defined protocols for incidents of all levels, supported by clear escalation procedures and a structured risk management approach. Medical pathways include access to local doctors, hospitals, and English-speaking practitioners, as well as counselling referrals and online mental health support where needed.

Housing & cultural program

Independent living, with structured support throughout

Students benefit from a structured cultural and experiential program to support integration into local life, including orientation, neighbourhood familiarisation, and ongoing engagement throughout the program.

Family role

Families are partners in the journey.

Parents and families play an important role in shaping each student’s experience. By involving them as partners throughout the program, we strengthen communication, add an additional layer of support, and enhance overall risk management — helping students feel confident, supported, and able to make the most of their time abroad.
